Slot Asserts He Feels Safe and Has The Club's Support Following PSV Eindhoven Defeat

The Liverpool head coach acknowledged that it's expected for questions to be raised about his future after another heavy defeat versus PSV Eindhoven.

The Reds suffered their 9th loss in 12 matches, marking the team's poorest run after being relegated in 1953-54.

They were taken apart by the Dutch league title holders on a tough evening at Anfield.

“I feel secure, things are alright, I have got plenty of backing from the top,” the coach stated.

“It would be nice to turn it around and earn three points naturally but when you're coaching a team and underperforming then it is normal that doubts arise.”

He added, “I accept my situation. This isn't the initial instance I've found myself in a challenging situation but it is about time that we improved our results.”

Talks with Club Management

Upon being questioned to expand on his conversations with the Liverpool hierarchy, the head coach revealed:

“There's regular dialogue. They assist for the squad and for me and those talks happen but they don't phone me all the time each day to say they have faith in me.”

He further stated, “Through standard discussions I perceive the belief. But I've not talked to them after this defeat so far so let’s see.”

Familiar Failings and Squad Response

Slot highlighted familiar failings from his squad in their European loss, namely missed opportunities and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, player Curtis Jones was blunter in his assessment of the current crisis.

“I haven't got the solutions. Honestly, I don’t. I'm telling that to everybody,” Jones remarked.

“It is unacceptable. I don’t even have to wait to think about it. I'm beyond being angry internally. I've reached the stage now where I just don’t have the phrases.”

He added, “It’s hard because I’m playing for the side I follow. I’m a fan, and I've watched this club all my life.”

“For many years, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team enduring a phase like this with outcomes this poor.”

Jones stated, “However we still have the crest on our chest. And until that badge is taken away, we will always compete.”

“We’re going to try to bring this squad back to where it needs to be, demonstrate to all once more what this club is about and why people call it the top club in the world.”

“However currently, we’re in the shit and we have to turn it around.”
